Information for Clients
We have prepared the following educational pages for pet owners. We will be updating this page as we continue to gather resources for our clients, so please continue to check this page in the future!
MA Rabies Law Changes - As you may have heard or been informed, the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, which regulates veterinary medicine, updated the Commonwealth's laws regarding rabies vaccination and animal quarantines in 2016. The changes are summarized in this attachment.
VOHC Approved Products - These products have been evaluated by the Veterinary Oral Health Council, an organization of veterinary dentists and dental scientists, and been found to reduce both the incidence and severity of periodontal disease.
Antihistamine Dosing for Dogs - Many pet owners are confused about which antihistamines may be safely given to their dogs, especially during the spring and summer when allergens are out in force. Consult this dosing chart to determine which antihistamines may be given to your dog, and how often it is safe to give them. NOTE: This information only applies to dogs. Do not give antihistamines to cats without the explicit approval of a veterinarian.
Healthy Pet Foods - Listed are commonly-available brands recommended by Dr. Pienkos that are available in a variety of different forms - dry, canned, refrigerated, or freeze-dried. This list is not exclusive, and other foods may be added in the future.
Tufts Pet Loss Support Hotline - The loss of a pet can be very difficult to bear, and it is a pain that no one should have to cope with unsupported. Call (508) 839-7966 to speak with a medical student.
